Role of Solenoid Proportional Valves in Material Handling

Role of Solenoid Proportional Valves in Material Handling

A flow control valve controls the flow rate of the fluid with the help of the restrictor. The regulation of a defined flow rate is necessary to maintain in various applications. The flow rate of the fluid affects many factors like pressure, temperature and density.

The ability to provide strong control over the flow rate of the air, gas or fluids makes them a perfect choice for material handling. Nowadays, they are used commonly in various places such as in engines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, construction, food processing, wood workings etc.

Below we have listed some roles of flow valves in Material Handling:

Control the Flow:

Solenoid proportional valves are used in material handling to control the flow rate of fluid in the storage vessels and conveying systems. Organisations that have to deal with bulk materials have safety and reliability concerns. They can not ignore this area to save money. Because in the end, this saving can create a lot of trouble. The first step in handling the material is to determine the type of the material and its characteristics and choose the right flow control valve that will work effectively with the passing fluid.

Helps to Feed Bulk Material into the Conveyer:

In material handling, solenoid proportional valves are used to transport the bulk material to the conveyer belt. These valves deliver the precise amount of the material as per the need or the set value. They are used to transport a large amount of material from one place to the other. Because of their numerous benefits, these valves play an essential part in the handling of the material and are used very commonly in the processing and manufacturing industry.

Reduce the Repairs:

Solenoid proportional valves reduce the need for frequent repairs and maintenance costs and enhance the efficiency of the overall system. Material handling valves are designed to face the toughest situation which can be formed in filling applications, transfer lines, discharge vents etc. A control valve with solenoid is specially designed to bear the material and the harsh environmental conditions. That’s why, it needs fewer repairs and resultantly cuts down the cost.

Serves as an Efficient Diverter:

A flow control valve serves as an efficient diverter when it is installed in a y-shape fitting. It can be used as a mixer or to start and stop the flow of the material. Working as diverters these valves provide an alternative way for the flow of the material while blocking the other one or more pipe connections. An electronic flow control helps to route and isolate multiple directions without causing slow or dead spaces in the handling of the material.

Final Words:

Today, solenoid proportional valves have become a necessity of the material handling process because of their advantages and strong control over the material flow. Nowadays various types of flow control valves are available in the market which makes it difficult to choose the right one. Remember that it’s crucial to use the right type of valve for the handling of the material. If you will not have the correct type, size or shape of the valve then it will fail to provide the expected results.
